Gifts for kids ~ Guidecraft Manipulative Toys {giveaway}

Country Mouse, City Mouse

Welcome to Day 8 of my Holiday Gift Guide!
Today, I am pleased to share with you Guidecraft toys.

Guidecraft’s mission has been to create products that inspire and educate; products with a focus on safety, creativity and quality. We specialize in creating fun juvenile furniture and furnishings, educational and specialty toys that challenge the imagination and a broad array of stylish and sturdy classroom furnishings.

My first impression of Guidecraft was excitement with finding good-old-fashioned toys. Ones like I grew up with. Guidecraft has well made toys and gear for kids, and I was loving their use of primary colours. I was slightly acquainted with Guidecraft, after recognizing some of their items from use in my children's classroom. But, then once I started browsing I realized that our school is full of Guidecraft, and it isn't new to our school. The Guidecraft items have been used for years and years and have held up beautifully to daily wear and tear of classrooms of children. So, right away I knew that anything we received from Guidecraft would be well loved and stand the test of time!

Browsing the Guidecraft site, I found the most beautiful children's wooden furniture that I would love to own for my kids.

I love the entire Tea Party Collection, and I think my little girl would too. The furniture is wooden and is completely adorable. There is much to be said about wooden versus plastic...really you just can't compare the two. Wooden will last throughout the generations. I know, my mom still has a little wooden table and chair set which she had as a girl and we all played and worked at that little table, and now so does the grandchildren!

Now, that you understand my obvious love and respect for Guidecraft and what they stand for, I can't wait any longer to share with you our recent experience with Guidecraft and having the awesome opportunity to review in our home a manipulative toy!

We chose the wooden balance base. It is painted brightly, with lead free paint (of course). You can use either side of the base depending on the child's skill and ability and security. I picked this because I thought my four year old daughter would enjoy simple fun, alone on the balance base. But, I also thought seeing that it is a wooden toy, that the many neighbourhood children who drop in for a visit could play on the balance base as well, and I wouldn't have to worry about injuries or the toy becoming broken.

Best part of the balance base (from my hubbies stand point) it was fully assembled and ready to go straight out of the box.

Jillian was a little nervous at fist, but soon found she could manipulate the balance base and was soon swaying back and forth smiling and having fun! My older (goofy) son even likes it and thinks he is practicing the skills he needs for snowboarding or surfing:)

This is a great toy, that has been enjoyed for hours already by my kids (and neighbours). It is holding up beautifully to constant use. I love that it is good for indoor or outdoor use and is easily stored once we bring it inside. I especially love to see my kids just standing on the balance base and rocking back and forth without even knowing that they are.

The balance base from Guidecraft would be a perfect gift this Christmas, for those parents and families members who want to give quality gifts that are good-clean-fun! Come to think of it, anything from Guidecraft would be an ideal gift under the tree this year! Guidecraft Educational Toys have won numerous awards!!

Thank you to Guidecraft for being a part of my holiday gift guide!
