My daughter is constantly asking me to pay to have her hair highlighted or dyed with streaks at the hair dresser. I have done it once and it was a disaster. We did a couple of pink highlights in Emily's hair for her birthday, I thought they looked cute. Problem was, she is in a childrens choir and they went away on a weekend workshop with other choirs. There was a whole uproar over Emily's hair and how it didn't portray the image of the choir and she wasn't going to be allowed to participate. Long story short, we can't do anything that doesn't look natural to Emily's hair for as long as she is in the choir.
Poor Emily, she is a normal 12 year old kid. Other kids do fun things with their hair that expresses their personality, and Emily really wants to too. When I heard about Hair Flairs, I thought this might be a great alternative, and let Emily have a little fun with her hair.
We had the opportunity to try out Hair Flairs. If you look in Emily's ponytail you can see sparkly, purple strands. Instructions said to use five strands as an accent, and ten or a dozen would be what you need for a full hairstyle. We thought we would try five and see how it worked out.I highly recommend watching the how to video before starting to tie Hair Flairs into hair.
We tried without watching the instructional video, and quickly became frustrated with the process. Once watching though, it all seemed to make sense and we could successfully and easily tie the hair flairs into Emily's hair. Fact is even my husband could do it, and he thought he wouldn't be able to with his big(ger) fingers.
But the real test was if they would stay put with brushing, sleeping and showering. One came loose and fell out, but the others didn't...I would probably guess it was user error and we didn't have the hair flair tight enough on the hair strand. The good news is the package we received has enough tinsel to last for months, so any we lose can quickly and easily be replaced. And, if the choir asks for them to be removed, we can without going to any extremes like dying or bleaching her hair.
Hair flairs should stay in place for anywhere from one to six weeks and will naturally fall out, just as your hair does. Hair flairs are a great alternative for anyone not wanting to use chemicals that damage hair. You can shampoo, style, blow dry and even use a flat iron or curling iron up to 400F all while you have hair flairs in your hair.
I think these are a quick and easy solution for anyone who wants a little pick-me-up. While you probably can't tie hair flairs in yourself, they really are quite simple. These would be fun for parties, special occasions, up coming Halloween, or just because!
